That’s right! The show that you’ve been waiting for is premiering tonight!
The Dance Your Ass Off show starts in a matter of minutes and I’m excited to see what happens on the first show. To recap, this show is “Dancing With The Stars” meets “The Biggest Loser”. Two shows that everyone loves is going to be combined into one! The show is based around 12 contestants that are overweight. They will compete in a dance competition and also will compete with each other to see who loses the most weight.

The contestants at weigh-in totaled approximately 3,000 pounds. Many of these people have serious weight problems and health conditions. There is a twist to the contestant’s weight loss goals as there is a “cheat “fridge and a healthy fridge. The cheat fridge has a lot of junk food to tempt the contestants into eating fatty foods. This is supposed to teach the contestants self constraint and real-life temptations. One of the contestants, Brandon, made a bee-line for the donuts.
The rules are, each contestant will work out twice a day on top of dance rehearsal. The winner will take home $100,000 and most importantly self respect and lost weight.

There are three judges and each judge will rate the contestant’s dance performance based on a 1 to 10 scale.

Lose Weight By Dancing Your Ass Off

Who wouldn't want to learn to dance after watching Dance Your Ass Off? How great would it be to be able to put on some of those moves, and after all who wouldn't want to have all those good looking women or men as dancing partners. I suggest you read the rest of this article before you join some dance course and be surprised.

What escapes some people is that there are basically two parts to dancing. There is the technical aspect and there is the physical aspect. We are going to start with the technical part first.

Looking at the technical side, dance should be easy; it is comprised of a series of steps, done in sequence to the beat of the music. The steps are usually one, two, three, four, for all except the waltz, which is one, two, three. These can be any one of an assortment of steps, side to side, front to back, and so on. The different dances have their own sequences and variations. This is why when you see two different couples dancing, say the tango that it will look different. Really the technical side of dancing is only memorization and coordination.

However, the physical aspect is a different can of worms altogether. What may look like a simple dance step technically, can be physically draining. A lot of the dance steps that you see on the Broadway stage are also very demanding. However, if you're interested in just typical ballroom dancing, for the most part, you don't have to be in magnificent shape.

And that's the great thing about dancing. If you're NOT in great shape, do enough of it and it will GET you into great shape. Ever look at the legs of dancers? I rest my case. Dancing is probably the best exercise that you're ever going to get and the best part about it is that it's plain fun. Not like those boring exercises that you've been doing at home on your treadmill or whatever. Dance Your Ass Off airs every Monday on the Oxygen channel and the first episode airs June 29th at 9:00 pm est.

Dance Your Ass Off Cast - Introduction to the Cast!

Alicia is 23 years old and was raised in a Chilean and Italian family. Food was the center of attention and the main focus in this family. She has been heavy her whole life and is excited about losing weight by dancing her ass off.

Angela has a dance background and has a passion for tap dance. She has been doing tap since the age of three. Angela is 24 years old and is committed to learning how to develop a healthy lifestyle.

Brandon is 2o years old and is tired of being "the friend" to the ladies. Brandon has decided to change is lifestyle and eating habits so that he can pursue his dream of becoming an R&B superstar.

Karla is 29 years old and has a passion for musicals, matter of fact, she loves all types of music genres. She hopes to inspire millions in their weight loss goals.

Mara is 32 years old and has battled obesity her whole life. Her brother passed away in college due to undiagnosed diabetes (gained too much weight in college). Mara has recently been diagnosed with diabetes and has made it her goal to purse a healthier lifestyle.

Miles is 29 years old and is a veteran of the US Coast Guard. His father passed away due to an unhealthy life style when Miles was younger. He is ready to dance and lose weight so that he can better his life.

Sofia or "Pinky" has danced all her life. Her brothers are in a street dance crew, however, Pinky never believed that she had the strength or endurance to keep up with her siblings. She hopes that DYAO will help her keep up with her family so that one day she can hop on stage and prove that she CAN keep up with the "crew".

Ruben is 43 years old and is head of wardrobe for Cirque du Soleli. His background is in theatrics and he has been touring on stages across America for the majority of his life. Ruben has had many opportunities to participate in media interviews, however, because of his weight, he has never felt comfortable in front of a camera. He is excited to have the chance to be on stage where he can build his confidence and pursue his happiness.

Shayla is 27 years old and was very active when she was growing up. She is currently an academic planner and tutor who helps high school students get into college. She looks forwards to dancing her ass off to get back into shape.

Tara is 33 years old and is a wife and mom. She works at an advertising company and is building her wedding planning business. Her goal is to edcuate people on how to eat healthy and exercise so that they never have to struggle with weight loss.

Patrice or "Trice" is 24 years old. She was introduced to music at a young age. Her dad was the singer and her mom was the dancer in the family. Trice has always been overweight and feels that her weight has been a hinderance in her performing ostage. She is currently a PR consultant and is working on a clothing line for women of all shapes and sizes.

Warren is 29 years old and has always been the "fat" kid. He continues to get fat comments still today. He is currently a nurse and works with people who have mental and phyiscal disabilities. He has two children and he hopes that he can become healthy and lose weight for his families' sake as well as motivate others.

Dance Your Ass Off Premiere in Two Weeks!

Dance Your Ass Off is a new series by the The Oxygen channel. The program will be based on a weight-loss competition. However, the weight loss is based around dancing. The first episode is going to air on June 29th at 10pm ET/PT. There are a total of 10 one-hour episodes with a special 90-minute premiere.

I think this show is going to be popular as many people like to be inspired to lose weight. This is considerably the best of both worlds for television programming. On one hand, you have a weight loss competition and on the other hand you have a dance competition.
I’m thinking the “The Biggest Loser” with “Dancing with the Stars”.
I condone weight loss through physical activities and what better activity than DANCING. Dancing is an amazing way to stay in shape while having FUN.

The dancers on the show will have weekly performances ranging from Hip Hop, to Ballroom and on occasion Pole Dancing (ooh la la). The dances will be judged by expert judges: Danny Tessons, Mayte Garcia, and Lisa Ann Walter (all of them have a background in dance and choreography).

The judges will score the contestants AND THEN the each dancer will have to weigh-in to reveal how much weight they have lost.
The last contestant standing will earn $100,000 prize.
I can’t wait to see the premiere of Dance Your Ass Off on June 29th!
